It's Open!

Registration for the Authors After Dark 2011 is open and it's rockin'!

It's August 11-14 in Philadelphia - yes, Philly - and the Master of Ceremonies is Larissa Ione!  As for what's new and/or different this year, well, there's going to be ebook only authors and All Romance [ARe] are going to be there selling ebooks alongside Borders [which also happens to have a shop around the corner].  The GLBT and Bloggers tracks have been extended.

And then there's the Bookie Awards.  These are, as the AAD website states: the "first industry awards nominated and voted for by readers and bloggers alone! And all the presenters will be bloggers, readers and book clubs!"  I'm excited about this bit because I just so happen to have two nominated [Cyra's Cyclopes and Double Punch] - honestly, when you look at those also nominated alongside me, I am thrilled to be in such company!

Some of the authors who are going to be there are*:  Sylvia Day, Melissa Schroeder, Cat Johnson, Bridget Midway, Samantha Sommersby, Zoe Archer, Meljean Brook, Elizabeth Amber, Kate Douglas, Leanna Renee Hieber, Gail Carriger, Monica Burns, T.J. Michaels, Bianca D'Arc, Jess Haines, Michele Lang, Suzanne Lazear, Stella and Audra Price, Liz Strange, Elizabeth Darvill, Kristen Painter, Ariel Tachna, David Juhren, Kayleigh Jamison, Rosemary Laurey, Judi Fennell, Augusta Li, Eon DeBeaumont, Theresa Meyers, Beth Wylde, Nick Valentino, Diana Castilleja, Yvette Hines, Denise Jeffries, Stephanie Jullian, Sonya Bateman, Bronwyn Green, Brynn Paulin, Adele Dubois, Natalie Gray, Laura Baumbach, Kris Cook, Felicitas Ivey, Susan Hanniford Crowley, and Eliza Gayle

The hotel, a Doubletree, is right in the midst of it all and books up easily because of the location.  Oh, and, I heard rumors that there's going to be a group of partners going to South Street for proper Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches.

Like last year there's going to be auctions from the authors and all proceeds will go to Pet's Alive!  Hopefully they'll be able to bring some of their animals so you can see where your money is all going.

What's staying the same is that this is a rare breed of conference in that no one makes any money, which keeps the price way way down.  How low?  $130.00 for registration and meals!  Love it!

More details to come as they are announced!  Hope to see you there - yes, I've already registered :-)

*= Subject to change until March 2011

Context!

This was the first year I went to Context and loved it!

The panels were interesting, the people were even better, and I'm looking forward to going next year.

We set up our table [to the right is Stella Price and Ash/Adra Steia] and went for a quick bite to eat [more on that another day - it was a burger experiment and you know how I feel about burgers :-)].  Later, I stepped in and joined Stella Price and Mark Evans on the Readers/Writers Relationship discussion.  It was a great mix between the two and we came out agreeing that the door is opened both ways.

The next day was Blogging - Creativity and Publicity with Jason Sanford, Joseph P Martino, Michelle Pendergrass, T Lee Harris and Maurice Broaddus.  Great chat that, at one point, touched on whether or not to be controversial was a good thing.  I think of this as a personality issue.  If you aren't one who likes stormy seas, you shouldn't try and create a storm simply for publicity.  Then again, who knows what will set someone off.

Next came the "mass autograph" session and each author stood up to introduce themselves.  Yup, I stood up and said I was an erotic romance author with shifters, futuristics, and some Greek Gods.  Had a few queries about the "erotic" part and explained, at the most base level, the real words for body parts are used.  There's more, but that pretty much is the gist.  And, during the signing, a dad came up and asked if I had 13 year olds in them.  Of course I said no, but then he picked one up and asked he meant could his 13 year old daughter read them, and I said in as polite a voice as I could muster an emphatic NO!

The last panel of the day was Paranormal Romance with Stella Price, Linnea Sinclair, Rosemary Laurey and Denise Verrico.  This one was a hoot and a half!  While discussing a famous paranormal heroine in a long series Jhada Addams claimed the character had the "clown car of vagina's" - loved that!  Later, we went for dinner to a nice Italian restaurant, and then it was off to the Shroud Magazine [they do books as well] party.  They had readings going on and totally hooked me [I'll tell you tomorrow about the book I bought - a horror picture book that you'll want to get for your kids].

On Sunday morning, before making the 8 hour drive back home, I sat on the eBooks panel with Steven Saus, Doug Johnson, T Lee Harris, JD Williams and David Wyatt.  Because the audience had quite a few coming at it from the writing standpoint, we trended the topic more that way, although the reader's side wasn't ignored.

It was good fun, the cutie enjoyed himself, and at no point did I feel rushed to make it someplace.  Oh and it didn't break the bank!  All make Context a huge thumbs up for me and I'll be going next year.

Looking for something different?

If you're in the Columbus OH area then there's a convention called Context coming August 27-29 focused on speculative fiction and related games, comics and film in your backyard and shall be great fun! The fee won't break the bank and the environment is a friendly relaxed one - a great way to spend the weekend.

There are interesting panels to sit in on [i.e. How Did I Get Here? and Illustration from the Artists Point of View and I'll be sitting on Paranormal Romance amongst others] and a booksigning on Saturday. You'll find a gaming and dealers rooms, and more. Plenty to explore.

Readers, writers and fans of the different are all welcome!

AAD Update!

Registration is officially closed for weekend attendance and I can't wait for it to all start!

A small hint of what there will be for attendees is free books from Ballantine, Kensington, Harlequin, NAL, TOR, MLR Press, Changeling Press, PHAZE, Tease Publishing and Dorchester Pub among others, as well as loads of goodies and awesome gifts! So Cool!

Now, if you can't make it for the weekend, don't stress, the booksigning is open to the public on Saturday from 2-4pm! If your in the area, come in, say HI! and maybe pick up a book or two then get them signed.  Below is the poster that lists the authors who will be there signing.

New this year is Day passes. A day passes include a welcome bag (while supplies last) but no meals or the goodies given therein. Day passes cost 35$ and can be picked up at the Registration table from 8-10 am on Friday or Saturday.

If your interested in coming to the Masquerade party only - which is a totally cool event as you can see from my pictures of last year, tickets are 25$ and include the party, and if your in costume, entry into the costume contest. Doorprizes, free books and gifts not included. Masquerade tickets are on sale Saturday from 8-9pm at the registration table.

There you go, soon I'll have a list of the panels going on - for readers, wanna be an author, and published author! Something for everyone!

Hope to see you there!

The Samhain/Linden Bay authors [Cat Johnson, Leigh Ellwood, Samantha Sommersby, Rosemary Laurey and Tilly Greene] have created a basket of goodies to be raffled off to support a local animal sanctuary, Pet's Alive. I've created a fabulous tote bag filled with goodies to also be raffled off.

Friday night, after everyone registers, the Love's Immortal Pantheon authors [Dagmar Avery, Cat Johnson, Kayleigh Jamison, Eliza Gayle, Selena Illyria and Tilly Greene] will be hosting a pre-Candy Shop PJ Mixer with ambrosia while talking about sexy Greek gods!

Saturday, from 2-5:00pm, is the Book Fair and it's open to the public! The books I'll be signing are:

After the fair, I'll be sitting on the Shifter's Unleashed panel - oh boy, watch out!

Exciting News!

Ellora's Cave is hosting a convention in Akron, Ohio in the Fall of 2009. There will be workshops, awards, parties, luncheons, a book fair and all sort of fun. This also means plenty of chances to meet your favorite authors and cover models...oh my! If you're interested in hearing more, then send you name, address and phone number [optional] to the event organizers [conventions@ellorascave.com] and they'll keep you posted.

Start saving up, this one should be a blast!

Hiya and see you soon!

Back from the Philadelphia Book Festival [such fun, even when it was raining] and now we're off to the left of us. The cutie has a conference to attend and then we'll head to the beach for some rest and relaxation.

I'll be back for the booksigning in Paramus - and everyone should watch out because I should have "Hot Couture" in my hands for that one :-)

In the meantime, if you're looking for a party...Stella Price is hosting a 2 hour shindig this Thursday [21st at 8:00pm est] on Books Beyond the Boundaries [Blog Talk Radio]. There will be a simultaneous chat and radio show...what a blast! If I can get a line out from our drive west then I'll be calling in - should be a blast.

Enjoy everyone!

A bit of random ridiculousness...

All is going well this month of pure writing and a booksigning [on the 21st] but there's been one hiccup - September. Why? Simple really, there's too much I want to do and they are all at roughly the same time!

1. the Moveable Book Society's conference is going to be held in Washington D.C. and will be full of unexpected treasures - since I missed both San Diego and Chicago, I promised myself I'd go to this one but something else came along that was both pleasure and work,

2. the West Hollywood Book Fair - I even said yes I'd go until I remembered,

3. a friend's wedding in Cork, Ireland.

Yup, going to the latter and it's on my birthday as well.

Booksigning on Saturday!

This is an all day event, so put on your comfy shoes. Oh, and did I mention some authors will be doing readings? Yup, loads to do and you're in Manhattan, so attend a Broadway show while you're there...the strike is over. The details are:

December 1 10-6:00pm est - 20th Annual Independent Small Press Book Fair, 20 West 44th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues), NYC, NY. 10036 w/a multitude of authors

Hope to see you there on Saturday, but if you can't make it then, still come and check out it out on Sunday.

UPDATE: Wonderful people, beautiful building, great location, oh yeah, this was a great event. I finally met the lovely Nicole and that made it even more special - she kindly fed my chocolate addiction as well, oh baby!

Booksigning on Saturday!

Actually there will be a discussion before the signing, so come with questions at the ready! The details are:

November 10 at 2:00pm est - Borders, 100 Viewmont Mall, Dickson City, PA, 18508 [outskirts of Scranton] w/Stella Price and Cat Johnson

Hope to see you there!

UPDATE: Total blast! Sat at the front door and had chatted up a storm! Met reader Suzanne, can't wait to see her at RT :-) Made plans with management to come back in 2008.

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

In the midst of a heavy editing schedule, I've had some wonderful news, and thought I'd share it with you all:

Zandia has been rockin' with the reviewers! Here are a couple of snippets:

"I am never disappointed by Tilly Greene's books, and Zandia is no exception. It's fast paced, and full of sizzling hot sex that will leave you breathless. I could totally feel Sui's need to live her own life. And Xer, who wouldn't want a man like that? He is strong when he needs to be and he knows how to be soft. This is definitely a page turner. Oh and you'll need your own fan."
Reviewed by Julianne, 5 lips and 2 chilis, and has received a Reviewers Choice Award at TwoLips Reviews

"Zandia is a very interesting planet and Greene's story is wonderfully threaded together. Reading it, I really cared about the characters--Sui and Xer as well as the secondary characters. Tilly Greene has created a whole new world facing a sexual revolution and shows us that even alien feminists can enjoy their sexuality to the fullest!"
Reviewed by Chris, 4.5 blue ribbons, Romance Junkies

"ZANDIA keeps the tension high, passion simmering on boil and delivers a kick ass story to the reader! Ms. Greene delivers a fine story that has the reader rooting for Sui to deliver Xei a set down that will shake him to his core yet you can feel the sparks between them. It was a delightful mix in ZANDIA."
Reviewed by Dawn, 4.5 lips, Love Romances and More

"Zandia is a superb story that explores the complex emotions between Sui and Xer. Once I started Zandia I became so engrossed in the story, I could not put it down. Bravo Ms. Greene. I can't recommend this book enough. Zandia is the perfect blend of story, red hot sex, and sci-fi elements."
Reviewed by Claudia, 5 stars/O heat, Just Erotic Romance Reviews

I am so excited about these wonderful reviews! Sui Erom knows what kind of life she wants to have, and even though she quivers when Xer is near, I think it's safe to say she has everything he wants and will do anything to have. If you haven't already, check out Zandia at Samhain! Did I mention the paperback has a release date now, it will be the end of March, 2008 :-)

See you all next week for the Banned Books Week Event. I'll be here on my Hot Thoughts Blog all week, in the Samhain Cafe and on the Samhain Blog on the 4th.

Oh, and if you are out and about this Sunday, I'll be with a bunch of other authors at the Westfield NJ FestiFall. It's going to be a beautiful day so come on out and say hello!
